Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee has released a statement on the memo from theTrump administration rescinding its federal grant freeze:
“This is no way to run a government. Playing politics with funding thatcommunities rely on is reckless and irresponsible. The Trump administration’sfreeze threatened critical funding for flood prevention, healthcare, mentalhealth services, and more. We all deserve better.
"My office will continue to monitor the executive order and any new guidancefrom the White House to ensure Harris County is protected. We are also closelyfollowing the lawsuit filed by attorneys general across the country, as theadministration’s attempt to withhold congressionally approved funds raises serious legal concerns.
"Harris County residents should never have to worry about losing vital resources because of political games. My office remains committed to protectingthe funding our community depends on.”
