All programs are offered in the fall, spring and summer semesters.

How to Apply

Please click the "Apply Now" button below to upload your application materials. Applications are due on November 1st for the Spring, February 1st for Summer, and May 1st for Fall. 

To be considered for an internship at the Harris County Attorney’s Office, an internship application must be submitted by the deadline indicated above. Only current law school students will be eligible to apply for the legal internship program.

Submit a cover letter discussing your interest in interning with the office, identifying the position and session (spring, fall, or summer) for which you are applying. Legal interns may select up to three divisions of their interest.

Communications Internship

Calling all students who are passionate about public service, government, policy, and communications. This internship is vital in enhancing our community outreach efforts, managing social media presence, crafting press releases, and developing internal and external websites and programming.

Legal Internship

This internship is ideal for current law students who are passionate about government and public interest. Learn more about the inner workings of your local government office with hands-on experience. With eleven legal divisions, you can choose your own pathway!

Law Library Internship

Support the mission of the Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library by assisting patrons with legal research, maintaining legal resources, and contributing to innovative projects like LAWPods. Ideal for students interested in legal studies, information science, or public service. 

    • Responsibilities Include:
      • Assisting patrons with reference inquiries 
      • Maintaining and updating legal resources 
      • Developing research aids and instructional materials 
      • Collaborating on innovative library initiatives

Software Developer Internship

Join the Property Tax Division’s database development team and work on real-world software solutions. This internship offers a collaborative environment where students will develop new features for Lawbase, our on-premises database. 

    • Required Qualifications:
      • Enrollment in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field 
      • Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of Object-Oriented principles 
      • Experience with at least one programming language in addition to SQL 
      • Strong self-organization and communication skills 
    • Desired Qualifications:
      • Minimum GPA of 3.0
      • Experience with database development using SQL Server or similar systems
      • Familiarity with Agile project management
      • Experience integrating third party applications

No, only current law students will be considered and accepted.
