Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee released the following statement responding to President Trump's comments about potentially eliminating FEMA:
“President Trump’s threat to dismantle FEMA isreckless and irresponsible, putting millions of Americans at risk. This is yetanother example of his administration’s disregard for the responsibility toprotect everyday people.
"In Harris County, we’ve seen firsthand thecritical role FEMA plays in helping communities recover from devastatingstorms. Eliminating it would leave our most vulnerable residents stranded,forcing them to bear the brunt of a government that turns its back when it’sneeded most.
"I hope this is an idle threat from thepresident, and not a serious policy discussion.”
