HOUSTON (October 28, 2022) – To mark the beginning of National Adoption Month the Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library, as part of the Harris County Attorney’s Office, is hosting a variety of events to empower families and support children in foster care. The Law Library will host a “Heart Gallery Houston” photo exhibit of children in foster care who are available for adoption that will be on display throughout the month of November. There will also be two virtual events, the first event Adoption & Family Formation in the Pride Community, will be held on November 1 and offers CLE credit and serves as a guide for the adoption process. Navigating Adoption within the Pride Community, an informal information session for families, will be held on November 5. “In addition to learning more about navigating the adoption process, these National Adoption Month events are an opportunity to become a caring home for children who are at risk of aging out of the foster care system without a familial support system,” said Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee. “These virtual events offer families from the LGBTQ+ community and anyone else who is looking to navigate the process of adoption a chance to ask questions and learn more in a supportive space.” The Law Library will also be collecting supplies for children who are under the supervision of Child Protective Services from Oct. 31 - Nov. 23, 2022. People can drop off items like hygiene products, diapers, pajamas, and more during open hours. More information about these events and information about the Law Library can be found at www.harriscountylawlibrary.org. |
