Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee Sues Company Over Consumer Fraud Scheme

Houston, Texas — Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee has filed a lawsuit against A&L Sheds, a contracting company accused of running a predatory scheme that deliberately exploits consumers by taking payments for construction projects and failing to complete the work.

The lawsuit outlines the company's repeated pattern of taking money for a down payment, giving customers a projected start date for the project, and then failing to begin work on the project. The county is seeking civil penalties and looking to recover money paid by the victims of this scheme.

"Predatory businesses should know that they cannot take advantage of people here in Harris County," said County Attorney Menefee. "My office is taking action to ensure that this company will not cheat anyone else out of their hard-earned dollars. We're committed to stopping any bad actors who seek to take advantage of our community. People work hard to save money to improve their homes and support their families, and we are committed to protecting them from these systematic fraud schemes that threaten their financial security."

The Harris County Attorney's Office received over 20 complaints about the business, which has taken money from residents across the state.

Residents who believe they have been victims of similar contractor fraud are encouraged to visit ScamFreeHC.com and submit a report to the Harris County Attorney's Office.
