Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee Announces Lawsuit Against Area Apartment Complex

Houston, Texas — Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee has announced a lawsuit against Globix Palms Rolling, LLC for its operation of The Palms on Rolling Creek, an apartment complex in North Harris County. The lawsuit makes clear that despite receiving several requests from tenants to address issues at the complex, the owners neglected to properly maintain and provide functioning sewer pipes resulting in multiple sewage discharges throughout the apartment complex.

Investigators from Harris County Pollution Control reported sewage containing fecal matter, toilet paper, and other items actively flowing into storm drains throughout the complex and shared areas including the parking lot and sidewalks.

“Residents who lived in this apartment complex were repeatedly asking their landlord to fix sewage lines and were ignored. Enough is enough – the residents of The Palms on Rolling Creek deserve better,” said County Attorney Menefee. “It should go without saying that raw sewage leaking around an apartment complex is completely unacceptable. We are pursuing swift and aggressive legal action to hold the owners accountable, get this urgent public health threat cleaned up immediately, and ensure the safety of tenants. My office will continue to use all the tools at its disposal to protect Harris County residents from landlords who refuse to provide tenants with safe and clean living conditions.”

Testing by Harris County also shows very high levels of E. Coli, a bacteria found in the intestines and feces of people and animals. Individuals who come into contact with water containing elevated levels of E. coli are at risk of adverse health impacts.
